Tall Moorcroft Gorgeous Flambe Pottery Vase “Anemone or Poppy” Pattern, Factory Drilled to the Base for Potential Use as a Lamp, Circa 1940

A tall Moorcroft gorgeous Flambé glaze pottery large vase in the “Anemone or Poppy” pattern and drilled to the base at the factory for potential use as a lamp. The flambé brings out bright colours with large red/yellow/orange toned blooms, black centers and green leaves over a deep red background.  This pattern was one of Walter Moorcroft’s designs and dates mid 1940’s to early 1950’s.  The flambé glaze was always more difficult to produce as they had to fire it at intense heat that would often break the pottery – so the flambé is more rare.

Stamped to the base in blue “Made in England”,  ” Moorcroft” and labelled ” By Appointment,  Potter to the Late Queen Mary”.

Dimensions: height 15″ x base diameter 7″
