Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Germany Stoneware Stein – “Show the People Courage & Strength”

Here is a nice stoneware half litre stein, signed “Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach” on the underside, along with the impressed numbers 1028, 13, and 07.
The stein has a dark brown glaze with lighter brown and cream decorations and white writing.

On the front of the stein is a couple harvesting wheat. On one side are the words “Verleight den Men=schen Muth u.Kraftl” which translates to “Show the People Courage & Strength”  within the wheat and vines decor. On the other side, also within the west and vine decoration, are the words “Der Reben = und Der Gerstensaft” which translates to “The Vine & the Barley Juice”

Behind the handle is written “Darum trinke” (translates to “So Drink”).

The rim is surrounded in pewter.

The stein measures 6 3/4 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide (including the handle).
