Georgian Period Tortoise Shell, Ivory, & Silver Inlaid Tea Caddy – circa 1820

A wonderful Early 19th Century, circa 1820, tea caddy in tortoiseshell and decorated with ivory and silver. The tea caddy sits on 4 ball feet with a ball finial and a hinged lid. There is a oval plate for engraving on the front of the tea caddy but it is not currently monogrammed.  Opening the box reveals two interior tortoise shell lids.

The ivory is on the interior rims of the box, in the key hole on the front of the tea caddy and on the handles of the removable lids of the two interior tea compartments.

The box measures approximately 7 inches tall from the tip of the finial to the ball feet. It is 6 inches long x 3 3/4 inches wide. The lid has curved edges.

There is some ivory missing from the interior rims on the corners & some cracking of the tortoise shell on the back of the caddy – but, overall, the tea caddy is in very good condition.
