19th Century Vienna DEMI-TASSE Cup and Saucer, Attributed to C.M. HUTSCHENREUTHER
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vThis is an exquisitely painted cobalt blue demitasse cup and saucer, featuring fine gold bead, foliate and figural neoclassical style decoration.
The top of the exterior cup is banded with gold beading, topping an extraordinary neo-classical frieze of men, women, and children in a pastoral setting.
The shallow cup has a gold, stylized rectangular handle. It rests on a round, pedestal blue and gold foot.
The round, cobalt blue saucer has a raised and inset centre, surrounded with a fine gold band. The raised saucer rim is decorated with three foliate sprays, and a gold and bead banded rim.
If you collect Vienna style 19th century European porcelain, this truly gorgeous cup is an amazing find.
Marked: Bindenschild/”beehive” mark with an “h” below and a pair of raised arms above, a mark attributed to C.M. Hutschenreuther after 1879 (pictured).
