Rare Continental Austro-Hungarian .800 Sterling Silver Perfume Box Set of 3 Bohemian Crystal Gilt Perfumes, Circa 1867-1872
Perfumes & Powder Boxes, Silver HollowareThis rare Austro-Hungarian perfume caddy is a premier example of 19th-century European luxury. The set features a shaped, velvet-lined silver box bearing the early “Diana Head” (Dianakopf) hallmark. Without an integrated city letter, the marks date the piece specifically to the transitional window of 1867–1872. Notably, the caddy is fully hallmarked on both the hinged lid and the base, guaranteeing its original state and matching .800 silver purity.
The exterior is masterfully hand-engraved with floral scrollwork and a beaded border, retaining its original lock. Housed inside are three cut-crystal bottles in a graduated arrangement, each adorned with hand-applied, gold-encrusted rose motifs and faceted geometric stoppers. Finished with gold-washed silver collars, this trio was designed as a “perfume cellar” for a prestigious vanity or high-end travel set. It remains a sophisticated display piece for collectors of Continental silver and fine Bohemian-style glass.
