Pair of Ornate French Silver .950 Claret Wine Jugs – Claude Doutre-Roussel, Paris
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA pair of French First Standard (.950) Silver-Mounted Glass Claret Jugs, late 19th century, by Claude Doutre-Roussel, Paris, in the rococo taste.
Pear shaped glass body is decorated with vertical fluting and etched with Musical instrument motif & crossed torches on the opposite side. The silver is pierced and decorated with opposing cartouches the the neck and collar in a “duck’s beak’ spout with hinged lid. Each stands on a circular foot with Rococo style apron and four feet.
French marks impressed in bottom of each with D.Roussel maker’s mark.
Each jug measures 9 3/4” high, 4-3/4″in diameter.
Both are in excellent condition.
