French Gilt Bronze Ewer Shape Clock with Green Onyx Base c.1890

A beautiful, small gilt bronze ewer shaped clock with a figural cherub playing aa violin on one side and a playful lion climbing up the other side.  The clock features an 8 day spring movement which allows easy placement anywhere (no pendulum).  The face is a white enamel with colourful garlands and black numerals.

The base is heavy in a green onyx which is a nice contrast to the gilt body.

A large oil painting on canvas – French impressionism Still Life.  The work is very reminiscent of Paul Cézanne and was painted around the same period – 1895.  Most likely a follower of the famous painter.  The painting is housed in a elaborate heavy gilt wood, plaster and Gesso frame.

Unsigned.

with Frame Measures:  29 inches high x 37 inches wide.

Rare – Mortimer & Hunt (Paul Storr) Large Sterling Tipping Kettle – London 1840 – 2.85 Kg.

A rare early Victorian English sterling silver tipping tea kettle dated 1840 by Mortimer & Hunt. Originally Paul Storr’s company Storr & Co (1819-1822), which became Storr & Mortimer (1822-1838) and upon the death of Paul Storr in 1838, John Hunt (Paul Storr’s nephew) entered the business to become Mortimer & Hunt.

Many of Mortimer & Hunt’s pieces are in Museum collections throughout Europe and this is certainly museum quality.

The monumental tipping kettle with a oak tree motif featuring oak leaves and acorns (including an acorn finial). The kettle sits upon a large, heavy sterling base with wide shell shaped feet. The original burner is also still with the set.

English hallmarked for London, 1840. Makers marks for John Mortimer & John Samuel Hunt.

This is a beautiful scenic landscape vase featuring tall, full foliage leafy trees with great depth over a pale background.  The shape of the vase is a tulip form with a wide base. The coloration flows from a dark base to a pale body with hints of green peaking though. I think it is even more exceptional when properly lit.
