England’s Renowned Crown Staffordshire Fine Bone China ” Pattern #A15291″, Elegant Dinner Set for 10, Circa 1940-1960s

The Crown Staffordshire Porcelain Co. Ltd was a renowned English china manufacturer operating from the Minerva Works in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent. The Green family started manufacturing pottery there as early as 1833, with the Crown Staffordshire name formally adopted in 1889. The company produced a wide range of high-quality bone china tableware and was particularly noted for its hand-painted designs and porcelain floral ornaments. In the post-war years (mid-20th century), the company expanded significantly and became the largest manufacturer of bone china in the Staffordshire Potteries area of England.

Collectors and sellers typically refer to this pattern by its formal pattern #A15291 or by a descriptive term such as the “Yellow Band and Black Filigree” pattern to identify it. Distinct and elegant in design, featuring a pale yellow band around the rim set against a white background. Striking black filigree design elements overlay the yellow band, and are accented by bold gold embellishments and gold trim. Made of fine bone china and bearing a backs tamp with the Crown Staffordshire crest and the words “Crown, Est. 1801, Staffordshire, Made in England” . The mark is a typical, mid-period (1940-1960s) back stamp for the company, before it was acquired by the Wedgwood group in the early 1970s.
